After driving his 98 Camry since new, he tells me "this is what happens when you get a divorce"

Just one more reason for me to not get married in the first place.

by the sounds of it, it means you do need to get married so you can get a divorce and buy something like this.

no married = no divorce = no toy

I see your logic there... but then there is the implicit value that the marriage was was dis-afforded him to buy this kind of toy sooner, and therefore, no marriage = more toy(s)

My father bought the AWD V6 supercharged one and I have to admit I am more than impress with the car! Fast, not bad on gas and the looks are 1000000 time better than a 5 series,A6 or E-Class IMO! (My father didn't divorce tho haha)
